Working with other centres

At Tom Thumb we believe in working closely with our own community. We have close links with the health visitors and speech and language therapists. We have a designated health visitor who will visit the nursery and speak with parents. Our nursery manager also meets with the health visitor once a term to discuss any concerns she may have with children’s development. We also have access to child physiologists that work with partnership nurseries. Of course any concerns will always be discussed with parents first to ensure that your child gets the best care possible!

Transition:

Your child will move through several stages, from when they first start playgroup to moving into morning sessions and then into their pre school year and then of courser onto school. We have polices put in place to make we offer a smooth transition into each phase! We have very close links with all primary schools in South Queensferry and take children for regular visits to school in their pre school year. The teachers also come in to visit the nursery.

Our community:

At Tom Thumb we recognise the importance of working closely with our community. We regularly access the library, local police station, local shops, fire station and church. We use the High School for sports days and swimming lessons for our pre school children and use the Rosebery Hall for meetings and not forgetting our friends at the sheltered housing complex at Shore Road!
